Too many people write about love. 😉

Creative Writing

There’s nothing like a good old love song.

Or is there?

Anyway, here’s a list of 10 greatest love songs of all time (according to timeout.com):

  1. ‘Birds of a Feather’ by Billie Eilish
  2. ‘Love’, Lana Del Rey
  3. ‘Let’s Stay Together’ by Al Green
  4. ‘Ribs’ by Lorde
  5. ‘Higher & Higher (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me)’ by Jackie Wilson
  6. ‘Die for you’, The Weeknd
  7. ‘You Make My Dreams’ by Hall & Oates
  8. ‘All Night’ by Beyoncé
  9. ‘Thinkin Bout You’ by Frank Ocean
  10. ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Dolly Parton

True love songs are the kind of bangers that have you belting out falsetto in the shower, dancing in the kitchen, and accidentally singing out loud in public.

But the love song genre is, as we all know, an incredibly saturated market. People have been writing those things since the Dark Ages, and they’re still releasing them every single day in 2025.

So, I suggest we do something different.

Let’s write about things people rarely sing about.

I’ll go first.

Here’s a poem about something that deserves well-deserved praise:

Too many people write about love.
I want to write about my big feet.
I don’t remember when I got them
but they’ve been at the end of
my legs for a long time.
They look old and worn
but they’ve never let me down.
I cherish them and need them.

Now, your turn!

Write about something that deserves our genuine admiration, but which we seldom devote attention to.

Use the prompts:

Too many people write about love.

Can’t wait to read it!

Your comments:

  1. Too many people write about love.
I want to write about life.
    About the passion for living
    and feeling and learning…
about the ability to find joy.
It may look simple or foolish
but I and you … we know
that we had to leave the hell way behind and
I and you … we love our life.
